Michael Lownie; Artist's Statement

Involvement in Fine Art has been a lifelong calling for me...my childhood fascination turned into my life's passion. The challenge of developing a coherent vocabulary through abstract images gives me purpose, creative direction and strength of spirit.

Inspiration for my works is the unexpected daily pops of color and a variety of atmospheric environments. These are used in my paintings to provide airy structures washed in light and transitional illusive depths, rendered in acrylic washes. Ambiguity in visual structure allows imagination to explore the works.

Michael Lownie is a San Francisco based artist with an extensive retrospective of work; some of which is presented here. His work can be found in many international private and corporate collections. Commissions are welcomed.
